LOVE BUG
Rescued from the Eugene Horse Auction in Spring of 2015 by a sister organization, Mustangs to the Rescue. Owned by a meat buyer & used as a work horse she suffered chronic injuries, hence sold to the auction for slaughter. Before joining us at the farm Love Bug was quarantined for two months & had to be treated for ticks & lice. Her current medical needs include daily vitamins, medication, reiki, chiropractic, body work & regular vet care. Though her life before coming here was traumatic, she now brings great peace & joy to the farm. Love Bug is a great therapy horse because she requires slow & gentle handling. Love Bug is the perfect buddy!
SHORTY
Before joining us at HFS, Shorty (Norwegian Fjord Gelding) was a work horse used for logging; you can tell by his very slow walk. Shorty gets to enjoy the good life of semi-retirement here at the farm. When he does work, Shorty enjoys being a therapy horse. He loves being brushed & sprayed with a hose on hot days! Shorty is a very happy-go-lucky horse & is an avid lover of attention. He & his best friend Cowboy are inseparable.
COWBOY
Cowboy (Miniature/Shetland Pony Cross Gelding) was originally owned by a friend of HFS who rescued him from an unfavorable environment. Though Cowboy can be shy at first, he is great with kids & people who are calm & relaxed. Cowboy is a great therapy horse as he gains confidence in himself. Like Love Bug, he challenges people to use their deep breathing & mindfulness skills.
TUCKER
Tucker (Quarter Horse, Paint Gelding) is an awesome, sensitive & kind horse with lots of spunk. He can relate to people with special needs! Tucker's left eye is smaller than the other due to an injury as a youngster. He enjoys running on windy days & letting out the occasional buck. Tucker loves the donkeys as his pasture-mates & enjoys playing. Tucker struggles with a bad habit called cribbing (picked up in his former home) which is brought on by boredom. Tucker: 3 and Gates: 0
STELLA
Stella (Quarter/Morgan Mare) had an easier life than most of our other animals, however, she was in need of a forever home as her owners were moving out of state. She adjusted nicely & is the leader & "mother" of her herd which consists of Tucker, Pancho, & Cinder Red. Stella could really benefit from on-going chiropractic care due to a back problem. These comical guys came to us as youngsters & continue to make us laugh! Proven to be wonderful therapy animals they goof off regularly & remind us to play & enjoy life. They also tend to be personal space invaders which help teach us to set boundaries, respectfully.

CISCO
Sweet elderly, miniature pony (born 1992) with a big heart who came to us from a family whose kids grew up & no longer were around to care for him. When he was younger, he was a cart pony, but as he got older, it became harder for him to pull a cart, due to his severe arthritis in both of his front shoulders. Cisco now enjoys grazing in the sunshine & hanging out with his best human friend, Jeanette. Cisco requires daily anti-inflammatories & gets lots of bodywork including acupressure & Reiki.
PENELOPE
Adorable, sassy miniature pony (born 2013) who was rescued from a Texas auction (to be shipped to Mexico to be slaughtered) in October of 2016 by one of our partner rescue organizations, 3 Sisters Equine Refuge. After being transported hundreds of miles across the U.S in a trailer with several other mini’s sent to auction by irresponsible backyard breeders, Penelope was quarantined at the 3 Sisters until she was rehomed to us! Penny now enjoys spending time with her best friend/adopted mom, Love Bug!
PIG FLOYD
Pig Floyd is part of the reason we started Harmony Farm Sanctuary! He was a family purchase after several persuasive letters from the founder's daughter Marieke. Robine & her family quickly realized how intelligent these creatures really are & that there is no such thing as a mini pig! After a short period of time, it was clear that the amount of food recommended by the breeder was unfair & was essentially starving him. Pig Floyd, now well over 150 pounds, is currently at what we consider a healthy weight, well over the weight of only 25-35 pounds which was promised by the breeder! His diet consists of veggies, fruit, coconut oil & the occasional chicken egg. Although Robine regrets purchasing a pig from a breeder, he is responsible for our passion for pigs! We have since learned that rescuing a pig is much more satisfying. There are hundreds of pigs in shelters all over the country that are looking for their forever home! Pig Floyd's needs include feed, vitamins, tusk & hoof trimming.
PEEWEE
In Dec. 2016 at 18 months old, PeeWee came to us from a home in Portland, Oregon. He had grown up with his humans & dog friend after PeeWee’s human parents parted ways & decided he could not move back to Texas with them. Peewee was overweight (due to lack of exercise & slippery wood floors) & had overgrown hooves. After lots of exercise and vet care, to trim his hooves slowly over time, PeeWee is now a healthy weight & his feet look great. Peewee is the sweetest guy who LOVES tummy scratches!
RIP FRANCIS 💔 11/6/22
Two-year-old male Potbelly/Juliana Pig mix (born February 2015). Like many small pigs, Francis quickly grew & became strong & sometimes aggressive towards his owner. She decided that Francis would be better off joining his cousin, Petunia, here at HFS, & Frannie has been with us ever since! He loves sunbathing in the dirt & trying to steal chicken food whenever he can!
PETUNIA
Petunia came to us from her home in Oakland, CA. Born March 2015 Petunia lived in a home with her human parents & their dog. Petunia & the dog did not get along very well, & constantly had to be separated, leaving one to be lonely & devoid of company. Petunia’s owners came to the conclusion that she would lead a better life at our sanctuary, & sent her to live with us! Petunia now loves wallowing in muddy water, getting belly rubs, & hanging out with her best friends, Eleanor and Doris!
ELEANOR PIGBY
Born July 2015, Eleanor came to HFS from a smaller pig slaughterhouse in Washington. One of the employees met Eleanor, fell in love with her & decided that she should not die. She pleaded with the owner of the slaughterhouse to let her purchase Eleanor. After much deliberating, the farmer decided to sell her but only after she was forced to take part in the pig races for Halloween festivities. Eleanor arrived at the farm scared of humans & with a nasty case of pneumonia. Our vet informed us that it’s very common for “production pigs” to have pneumonia & warned us she might have it for life. However, with lots of TLC, good nutrition, herbs & vet care, she has made a full recovery. In the past year, Ella has grown to be a huge, sweet, intelligent & naughty girl!

And as of March 2021 now lives with her besties Rusty, Clover and Poppy!
DORIS
Doris came from a breeder as a "teacup" pig. Her first owner found her living in filth & not socialized. After spending several hundred dollars for a "teacup" pig Doris grew like a weed! Then she moved into a family where she wasn't fitting in & the dogs wouldn't accept her. Luckily now, Doris is settling in at the farm & has made fast friends with Hamilton; snuggle buddies at night. With a ton of personality she is quickly becoming one of the most social pigs we have at the farm! Her needs include feed, vitamins, bedding, hoof trimmings & vet care.
HAMILTON
Hamilton arrived at HFS on June 28th, 2015. He came to us from Astoria, Oregon which was one of his many former homes. Weighing in at over 200 pounds, he had outgrown several homes. Though his former families loved him, he needed a farm to call his forever home. He has made many human & animal friends on the farm & LOVES his belly rubs! Hamilton requires feed, vitamins, hoof & tusk trimmings & other vet care.
ZOEY
Zoey has been in two other homes before landing at HFS permanently. Her first home was an apartment that she quickly outgrew. Under-stimulated, Zoey became aggressive & destructive. Her first owners were unaware of proper pig training procedures & smacked her on the nose, which only made the problem worse. Once in her second home, her new owner was loving & more educated on pig behaviors. Unfortunately, this home had dogs that looked at her as a meal so she did not feel safe. At HFS, Zoey learned to get along with dogs as well as the other animals on the farm & no longer bites. She loves showing off her tricks. Zoey's needs include feed, vitamins, hoof trimmings & vet care.
SHERMAN
Sherman was purchased as a pet (please don't do this), lived in a house and was even bottled feed. When the novelty wore off, Sherman was moved to the backyard shed with no bedding, no visitors and no love. ​

A compassionate neighbor noticed and advocated for his rescue to HFS. Sherman arrived in October of 2020.
​
He now spends his day squealing around the barnyard and looking to make friends with all the other farm animals, especially Penelope as seen in the picture. He currently sleeps with his best friend, Polly who arrived around the same time.
​
We are excited to watch Sherman grow and his personality shine! This sweet boy is so loved by everyone that meets him.
CLOVER, POPPY AND RUSTY
Clover, Poppy and Rusty are one big happy family, now! Although they arrived at HFS under different circumstances, they now love each other as siblings.
​
Poppy and Rusty were rescued from a hoarding situation in Portland, OR. They were amongst hundreds of pigs living in a deplorable situation. Confined inside a house without access to proper food or even water, Rusty & Poppy would not have survived much longer. Fortunately many rescue groups intervened, saved and rehomed all the pigs to sanctuaries across the United States.

Clover, raised as a production pig was in a truck bound for slaughter. Just like humans, her instinct to survive kicked in and she jumped from the truck. She somehow survived the fall and was found running down the highway looking for safe haven. Well, she found it here at HFS. Unfortunately most animals bound for slaughter feel the same way and are either too scared to jump or if they do are rounded up, put back on the truck and ultimately end up being slaughtered.

These 3 "little pigs" as we like to call them now spend their days rolling in the mud, playing with toys and looking for hugs from volunteers.
​
POLLY
Polly is such a sweet, sweet pig. She is blind so she needs extra attention. Polly came to HFS in 2020. In her previous home she was injured and without proper care she ended up staying in her house until she became so obese and her hooves so long that she couldn't really get around. She was depressed. Luckily the owner knew her life was in danger if something didn't happen to improve her situation. And that's when she was rescued and brought to HFS. ​

If her quality of life was to improve she needed to lose weight. So she went on a diet (not happily:-) but can now get around more easily but being blind she is timid around other animals. So on some sunny days we tuck in the other pigs for a nap, so that Polly can feel safe on her own laying outside in the sun.
​
Her comfort level has come a long way! If she sniffs your hand and recognizes you she will quickly flip over for some cozy belly rubs.
​
We are so proud of her resiliency and ability to adapt to her new surroundings all while being blind. We will continue to take special care of this sweet girl and feel super privileged to be able to do so.

DENNIS
Dennis came to HFS in October 2021. He was rescued by a compassionate couple out for hike on federal lands here in Central Oregon. They came across Dennis and quickly realized he had been someone's "pet" and was not going to survive on his own. They rescued him and found him a forever home here at HFS. Once dumped but now a loving member of our big, happy family.
He spends his days visiting with all the animals at the sanctuary. He also loves to play with his treat ball and gets very excited when treats are being handed out. Because he is so small, he was eating super-fast during mealtimes. He was worried the other pigs would take his food. We now separate him and give him plenty of time to eat. This has helped him medically as he had been to the vet twice for literally inhaling his food.

When he's not rooting for food or visiting with the cows and goats, he snuggles in with his big brother, Sherman. The two of them also sleep together every night. He is super cute and has the personality to match. We feel so honored to watch him grow and look forward to caring for him for the rest of his life. We love you, Dennis!

SPARKLES & WATERMELON
Sparkles and Watermelon arrived to HFS last April 2021.They were born at another animal sanctuary, but that sanctuary was full and did not have the means to keep them. So, we happily welcomed them to HFS. They came in hot, in terms of personality and cuteness. They are super social, like all pigs and love to roam around with the sheep and say hi to the goats. Wanting them to have motherly love, we moved them in with Polly. Polly keeps them in line, has taught them manners and provides them with love on a daily basis. They love to come out of their pen and say hi to the ducks. They spend their days rooting for treats, doing zoomies in their pen, snuggling with each other and flashing their big eyes to volunteers walking by, hoping for an extra treat or a visit. Which by the way, they get lots of! We continue to be amazed at their sweet personalities, smartness and loving ways. We feel very fortunate to be able to watch them grow and live happily ever after. We love you both, Sparkes and Watermelon.
COWS
KINGSTON
Kingston is a Lowline Red Angus beef cow. For unusual reasons he was rejected by his mother. The farmer bottle fed him but ultimately opted to sell this baby on Craigslist. More than likely he was destined to be bought only to be slaughtered. But luck intervened and a compassionate individual negotiated for his release to HFS.

He has a wonderful friendship with his big brother, Norman! The two can be seen soaking up the rays on a beautiful sunny day in Central Oregon and eating lots and lots of hay.
NORMAN
Norman is a Jersey steer who arrived at HFS on during one of the snowiest and coldest winters Sisters has seen in decades! He was born on 2/25/2017 & arrived at a day later. Norman is a victim of the dairy industry. Jersey cows are a milk breed & the male babies are considered “throwaways” as they are competition for milk & will not grow up to produce milk as their female counterparts are. Dairy calves are separated from their mother’s usually the day or first couple of days they are born.
GOATS
BUCK AND PETRA
Two hilarious Nubian goat siblings who live with their best friend Norman the cow! Born in 2016, & came to HFS as an owner surrender. Buck is very protective of his little sister, so on occasion he will rear up on his hind legs when you get near her, but usually he just loves to be loved! Buck enjoys play fighting with Norman, & Petra enjoys sunbathing & licking Norman’s salt lick!
BOB
This lovely older (born 2010) pygmy goat was surrendered to HFS due to the lost best friend. Bob became very lonely & depressed without company, and his owner decided that he would be happier elsewhere. Bob now lives with Vincent van Goat, Juniper, Shadow, Isabelle, & Hazel. Though Bob is a little shy upon approach, don’t be discouraged! Once you get to know him he is a great guy! Bob enjoys lounging about in the sun, peace & quiet, & most especially, butt rubs!
VINCENT VAN GOAT AND JUNIPER
Vincent & Juniper arrived at HFS the spring of 2016 when they were only 3 days old! They were born on a farm in Central Oregon. Their mother died during their birth, leaving them with no source of milk & they were found shivering & alone during a nasty spring snow/rainstorm. The owner of the farm had too many bottle babies & so we welcomed Vincent van Goat & Juniper to our farm! They are both spunky, fun & often naughty!
HOUDINI
Houdini came to us at five weeks old in June 2017. He escaped from his previous life on a goat farm by slipping through a fence & running down highway 20 here in Sisters. Houdini was brought to us with a large & angry wound on his head which was the product of a sloppy horn-removing without proper care, a large infected blue tag on his ear, & was covered in lice. Little Houdini was very sick when we got him & required a lot of medical attention. He lived in the human house until his wounds were completely healed. He was sometimes found asleep on the couch on his human's lap! Houdini is the sweetest guy and he made an instant connection with Norman.
SHADOW, ISABEL, AND HAZEL
These goats were adopted from a family that was downsizing their goat crew and were hoping to avoid sending them to auction. They are the naughtiest creatures here at HFS & we often refer to them as CMM's (Chief Mischief Makers)! They get into all kinds of trouble whenever possible. We love their spunk here at the farm & have learned to enjoy their antics! They love to run around, jump & spin on colder days, but absolutely hate the rain & snow, when you will find them hiding in their shelter! These three love attention. Their needs include feed, bedding, vitamins/supplements, and vet care.
LULU
Lula arrived to HFS in May 2021. She is 1 year old and sadly has a deformed hoof. Her hoof is being treated by a vet with pain medication and regular hoof trimmings to get it into the most functional shape to help her get around. And it's working! This little sweetie is getting around just fine - it's not slowing her down. She lives with our small goat family and is trying her best to make some BFFs. For now she can be found laying on top of the hay during feeding time, yes you read that correctly. You see being the new girl in the family means she has to find creative ways to get some hay and she found it! Her sweet disposition has garnered the attention of all the volunteers who continue to make sure she gets plenty to eat and a nice place to nap during the day. We love you, Lula! And we are very excited to watch you grow, right here at your forever home!
SHEEP
LEE AND MARK
Lee and Mark are meat sheep meaning they were raised to be eaten. A friend of HFS was living next to their farm and instantly fell in love with the pair. She bravely asked the farmer if she could save them. Instead of being sent to slaughter, Mark and Lee were brought to HFS. Because excessive weight gain is commonplace in this industry many meat sheep suffer from severe arthritis. And Lee was really struggling. We treat his arthritis daily with CBD giving him his quality of life back. Lee is now seen having many playful moments throughout the day and that makes us really happy!
NOEL
Noel is a Barbados Black Belly Sheep. We are not sure where her life began but we do know that this sick little girl wandered on to private property. Instead of trying to help her, the property owner tried to sell her on Craigslist. A group of compassionate individuals negotiated her rescue to HFS on Christmas Eve 2020.

She was nursed back to health by living with the sanctuary owners and eating lots of dandelion greens. She was eventually moved outside and now lives with her adopted family, the Icelandic Sheep. Ghost and his crew look out for Noel and keep her warm at night.

She is slowly learning to trust us and is inching her way closer to our hugs.
TWILIGHT AND CINNAMON
Twilight and Cinnamon are wool sheep. They were raised on a sheep farm. At times, farmers cull their herd resulting in a selection of animals being sent to auction and ultimately, slaughter. This was their fate. Luckily they were rescued together before this happened. They now live with Mark, Lee, Soba, Mochi, Mac and Ruby as one big happy family. They are shy but always willing to greet you with their beautiful soulful eyes! On most days they can be seen lying together and just being.
MOCHI AND SOBA
Mochi and Soba came to HFS in late 2019. They came from a loving owner that was looking to rehome them temporarily. They bonded so well with the other sheep that the owner made the tough decision to let them live with us permanently.

These Olde English Southdown (Baby Doll) sheep are the sweetest siblings. They can be seen sleeping together and pretty much doing everything together. They live with 4 other sheep, 1 Llama and an Alpaca whom all look after these cuties.

They are extremely affectionate and are open to hugs and kisses.

We feel very fortunate to be able to care for them.
GHOST, ODIN, HALLELUJAH, TRISTAN, DIANA AND FREJA
These Icelandic sheep were adopted from another sanctuary in Oregon. The sanctuary was desperately looking to temporarily rehome their rescued animals due to the wildfires that affected Oregon in 2020. We happily welcomed Ghost and his family into the our family. They fit in so well that it was decided to let them stay permanently at HFS. These sweet sheep are still a little shy but continue everyday to amaze us with their resiliency and ability to adapt to their new surroundings. We will continue to shower them with love so that they know how much we love them and how happy we are that they are part of our family.
TUESDAY
Tuesday is a Barbados Black Belly Sheep. He was rescued and brought to HFS in June 2021. He was rescued by a compassionate individual who saved Tuesday from slaughter. He was sent to slaughter because he is a male. Males are considered "throwaways" because they can not produce milk or reproduce. Thankfully this compassionate individual rescued him, took him home, bottled fed him and found a safe and loving forever home for him at HFS. We can not thank her enough for saving this beautiful soul. Tuesday is currently living with Bruce Hornsby until they are both old enough to live with the older Icelandic Sheep (Ghost's family).
BRUCE HORNSBY
Bruce Hornsby is a Jacob sheep! Bruce was rescued and brought to HFS in June 2021. Did you know that Jacob sheep have 4 horns! He is absolutely adorable but a little scared right now.
Like Tuesday, Bruce Hornsby was rescued from slaughter. He was sent to slaughter at a very young age because he is male. This is the ugly truth of animal agriculture.
Luckily he was saved by a group of compassionate individuals and brought to HFS. He will live with Tuesday until they are old enough to live with the older sheep. Bruce Hornsby and Tuesday are helping each other settle into their forever home. Both are being showered with hugs and kisses from the volunteers as we try to reassure them that they are SAFE and that they are LOVED!
RABBITS, CHICKENS, FOWLS AND TURKEYS
HONEY AND CARMEL
Did you know that we currently have 17 rabbits at HFS. Each has a name: Timothy Jr., Cilantro, Parsley, Clementine, Velvet, Timothy, Pearl, Opal, Seamus, Florence, Ivy, Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Peter, Honey and Carmel. And each has a special story. Most come from homes that can no longer care for them, some were abandoned and some just found us. But ALL have found a forever home where treats and love are the norm!
RASPBERRY
Did you know that we currently have more than 40 chickens at HFS. Most were abandoned. Each has a name, a story and a family to live with. Our chickens are provided an opportunity to pick their family. Their choices include Tom Sawyers Family, Sinatra's Family and Raspberry's Family. Each family has a sweet inside/outside coop to live in with amenities that include ladders, swings and vitamin water! Chicken language consists of at least 24 different vocalizations. And our chickens use every one of them as they spend the day chit chatting with each other and everyone that visits them.
GOOSE SPRINGSTEEN, BERT AND ERNIE
Goose Springsteen came to HFS alone. He now has a mate, Patty. He also has 2 adopted kids, Bert and Ernie. We are in the process of building a duck pond where they will spend their days floating but still protected from predators because they can't fly. They love when volunteers visit especially when they come with greens in hand such as kale and spinach!
PATTY
This is Goose Springsteen and his mate, Patty. He is very protective of her, especially during mating season. Patty has also become mom to Bert and Ernie. She literally took them under her wings. This little family is very bonded and can be seen snuggling together during the day and at night. We are happy these beings were given a second chance at love.
LURCH AND SIRIUS
This is Lurch and Sirius. Both are a Norfolk Black turkey. Did you know that turkeys can live for up to 10 years. Luckily this father son duo will live the rest of their lives together. They are inseparable and love to greet volunteers and visitors to the farm. Each has 5000 feathers including 18 tail feathers which are on full display when trying to impress guests. They are so sweet and we love their constant calming presence.
MAC AND RUBY
This is Mac (Llama) and Ruby (Alpaca). They arrived at HFS together in 2020. Mac is 14 and Ruby is 18 so naturally it was very hard on them to leave the only home they knew. But their owner decided to move in a different direction and needed to rehome them.

We welcomed them with open arms and continue to help them settle in. Mac's big personality allowed him to settle in quicker than Ruby, who is quite shy. Mac continues to look out for her at all times.
​
They live with 6 sheep in a big pasture which gives them plenty of space to roam and many good angles for Mac to watch over his farm family. His natural instinct to alarm is on full display if something is out of place at the farm.

Ruby is slowly warming up to the volunteers that tirelessly try to shower her with hugs and kisses.
