In wildlife killing contests, participants compete to kill foxes, coyotes, bobcats and other ecologically vital species for cash and prizes. Hundreds of animals may be killed at a single event and countless others may be injured. Their lifeless bodies are often dumped like trash, once the game is over.

Wildlife killing contests are cruel and undermine responsible sportsmanship. These contests are grossly out of step with the principle of fair chase, science-based wildlife management and Oregon’s conservation centered values.

Eight states, including five in the west—Washington, California, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona—as well as Maryland, Vermont and Massachusetts have banned wildlife killing contests. It's time for Oregon to do the same.

TAKE ACTION

Please send a message to the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission and urge them to ban wildlife killing contests statewide, using the link below.
